Sometimes shit on the web gets truely fucked up! Well its hilarious though.

Every single blog on the web kept talking about Yahoo’s top searches for 2008. First of all, why make a big buzz about this? Do you know what Yahoo’s market share is? 10.47%! So, these stats aren’t even close to representing most of us.

And everyone is like worshiping Britney Spears because she was the top searched term for seven out of eight years. Well why wouldn’t she? She’s just so entertaining to watch. She’s like a monkey on crack. No offense, but I’m just saying.

When was the last time you saw someone using Yahoo’s search instead of Google? (Well its sad, but everyone uses Google.) Okay so what about the 10% market share? Who are they then? What kind of idiots are they? Which year do they think they’re living in?

Lets take a look at the 10 searches:

1. Britney Spears
2. WWE - Who the fuck still watches this shit?
3. Barack Obama
4. Miley Cyrus – Looking for her naked pictures?
5. RuneScape
6. Jessica Alba
7. Naruto – Is this the Asian anime porn?
8. Lindsay Lohan – People are still into her? WTF?
9. Angelina Jolie – She has the body of man! OMG!
10. American Idol

This top search result thing tells us a lot about Yahoo users, doesn’t it? I’m guessing most of them are (semi) computer-retarded, horny, lame teens and/or hilly billies. But, this is just my guess.

You wanna take a guess at what kinda people use Yahoo? Do that by dropping a comment and after that go listen to some Britney Spears while shopping for a purse.

I cannot believe it! Barack Obama is spamming Twitter! Oh man. I now see why Fox News was comparing Obama to Osama. Oh I feel bad for Fox now. No one believed them. I didn’t believe them!<del></del>

Okay lets cut the drama queen (should be drama king, right?) crap now. But, I did notice something weird about Obama’s twitter. He is following way too many people. We’re not talking about a few hundred or even a few thousand here. We’re looking at a 5-digit number. 76K!

Man is that normal? Is the guy working on his campaign or just following people on Twitter? I guess he got hooked or something. Oh man I’m going to jerk-mode now. But, seriously 76K is a lot. And he’s got only 73K followers.

You wanna know how he followed back so many people? He’s using a script which automatically follows you back once you start following him. Just add him and then look at the list of your followers). But, he doesn’t actually respond to your tweets (and he’s not even interested in them). Twitter’s servers are constantly having “technical difficulties” (aka downtimes). I wonder if Obama’s account caused all of this. Probably not.

So, is he actually “follow spamming“? Well I personally wouldn’t say that. Maybe it technically falls under follow spam, but he doesn’t mean to. He’s just trying to keep people updated about his campaign. I don’t like the fact that he’s using a program to automatically follow people back, but it was probably the nuthead running his account’s idea. Well that’s a different thing.

We all get spam and find a ton of them on the web. So, we kind of go into our anti-spam/ninja-killer mode whenever we see something that looks a bit like it. We don’t really think about it and see if it really is spam. We don’t look at people’s true intentions. Well look at the definitions!

So, next time think about it and check if it really is spam. And if it is, then rape that <del>fucker</del> spammer. Until then subscribe to my blog via RSS or email if you liked this post (at least a tiny bit).

I noticed that most sites have a messy page title. They have like a shit load of stuff in the page title. Now that’s not really good. You need something nice and clean. Let me try to explain why. Oh and this post is targeted towards dynamic sites like forums or blogs.

SERPs! You need to get clicked on the SERPs. People are a bit lazy. They don’t read most of the time. They “scan”. And the last thing you want is a huge page title. All you need is a good title for your post (or page).

Which one looks better to you?

What is “Twitter Follow” Spam? – WebRampage | Domains, Hosting, News, SEO, Tips, Tricks, etc

What is “Twitter Follow” Spam?

I even saw people include their tagline. Like I don’t think your site’s name, keywords and/or tagline is important. And I noticed TechCrunch, Daily Blog Tips, ProBlogger, etc with these type of “clean” page titles.

So, go ahead and clean yours up. Oh and you can put your tagline or a few good keywords in the title of your home page. Well anyways feel free to share how you like to keep your page titles and if you’re thinking about switching to these “cleaner” titles.

Update (Sept 5, 08): This isn’t really exact science. This post was made to light that bulb in your head. You need to play around and find the one that works for you. And if you plan on taking out your site’s name then don’t worry about the branding part like Kara (a reader) was. A good favicon should do the job.

Keep it short, simple and descriptive. That should work like a charm!

Do you buy domains from people? Then you must read this. And if you don’t then you should still read this. Its something you should know.

Okay I know that a lot of people buy nice domains, build an “okay” site on it and then sell them. They don’t just sell them right away, of course. They get a nice PR first because the buyers want to rank high (or maybe buy the domain and then sell it for more). Well things like these are always going on.

But, the important thing is you need to watch out for fake PRs. No, I am not joking. You can put a fake PR on a domain. And I’m sure that there’s a lot of people doing it right now. So, how do you figure out which PR is fake and which one’s are real? Well just follow these four simple steps:

Find the domain you want

Go check out the site on that domain

Google this “site:www.YOUR-DOMAIN.com” and you should find caches of that site

Go check the cache. See anything fishy? Is it the cache for the site on that domain? Or a cache from a different site?

If you answered yes to step #4 then its a fake PR. To fake a PR, you basically redirect the Googlebot to a site with a high PR and it gets tricked. And you get the PR of that site. I’m not going to tell you how to do it of course, but you get the idea.

So, next time you buy a domain from someone remember to do this. Good luck! Oh and don’t forget to share your experiences with us. Like if you ever bought a domain with a fake PR (or maybe sold one?).

This is a very common thing. People think that if they make a clone of a popular site then they too will be popular and enjoy the same success. Let me tell you something. This is very stupid! Its not true! This is usually common between new webmasters.

Why it doesn’t work?

Well clones will never be successful because you need to put your own time and effort making it. Making a carbon-copy of something will never guarantee success. You need to do the SEO, marketing, and most of all, get your own identity.

Why would someone choose you over something that’s already well established? Do you think people would use your Facebook clone over the “real” Facebook? No!

Stop buying clones

And I’ve also seen a lot of people going crazy and buying clones. Don’t do that. You’re just wasting your money. Its not worth it. Its not worth your time and energy.

Clones suck. Think fresh!

OMFG people! Why is everyone making a warez forum? I just don’t get it. Why? Do you not get it that warez forums are lame. There is too much competition. There’s bigger fishes (with lawyers) than you.

I’ll keep it simple. They suck because its just zombies copy/pasting links and information all day. That’s just it. There is no real discussions there. Well if you consider people reporting dead links and saying thanks a discussion then that’s different.

Plus its 2008 people. There are millions of tiny and big warez forums. You’re not the first or even the second one to make it. Too much competition.

And its not nice to give away things that people spent money and time making. I don’t know why but all the new forums have a warez section or its completely about warez. Weird. I don’t think people think about choosing a better niche.

If you know anyone or if you, yourself is planning to make a warez forum then do the rest of the world a favour and don’t make one! Please think of something better.

Warez isn’t cool. Its lame!
