Piss off an A-list Blogger for Traffic

There are tons of ways to put your site under the spotlight. People come up with new ideas all the time. But, I just saw a really one. Its called “pissing-off-the-owner-of-a-huge-blog.”

I’m sure you all heard of Mashable. Its the 11th most popular blog on the web according to Technorati. They get over a million unique visitors per month (don’t worry, I did my research). And they have a shit load of subscribers. They’re almost as big as TechCrunch.

Well anyway, some smart ass made a social network for music and named it Moshable. They just jacked the name from Mashable. Well the folks at Mashable got pissed and they blogged about it. And guess what happened? Traffic wave! Nice one, Moshable.

Its a good idea, but it might not work all the time. You need to look for a blogger that would whine like a lil’ bitch. Some bloggers couldn’t care less. Like this guy made Live Crunch and TechCrunch didn’t give a shit (epic fail!). Or maybe the guy just lacks creativity.

So, do your research and find a good target. And don’t just do what the people at Moshable did. Find other (and better) ways to piss off A-list bloggers (without of course, doing anything that could get you in legal shit). Here’s a tip, try fucking with Darren Rowse the “ProBlogger”.

Adam, I don’t think its the name that would piss off Darren. You need to do something with his blogs. Like steal his content in a way that he can’t legally do anything. Or make a blog which looks exactly like his latest blog, http://www.twitip.com.

He gets pissed pretty easily. I remember him complaining about StumbleUpon when they banned him and about this other site who copied his content. You could also try making fun of him on Twitter or Plurk.

Just scan through his blog and you’ll get a bit of idea on what gets him really pissed. I would say that if you spend a few days working on this then you’ll under the spotlight. Good luck!

BTW, you could try using the name “the real problogger.” Might piss him off if you start getting a bit of attention.

I can tell you from experience that this has backfired on anyone that has tried it on me. I ignored them and I removed every link I’d ever given him on my site. He burned a bridge permanently. Think about that before you lower yourself to stunts like this for traffic.

Well that’s why you need to think about it properly and then choose a “target”. You need to see if you’re doing more bad than good by pissing off the blogger. Once you piss them off they’ll probably never talk to you or help you. So guys, think about it properly.

Actually, this is a not-so-bad-idea. And, coming from this site that is a surprise. Most of what I read on here is crap. lol

    Did that piss you off?

    Good article.

To funny m8, messed up, true, but funny. That has to be the all time classic baited traffic trick. Most know better than to fall for it but I guess you never know.

Everytime Arrington or other “A-list” bloggers like the guys at Mashable get pissed off, they are doing someone a huge favor! hmmm how do we piss em off ;)

Go take a look at their rants. See why they got pissed and stuff. You’ll learn a lot from it.

If you wanna piss off Arrington then take him to court. That will really piss him off and he’s gonna blog about it for sure. He’s done a few times before. But, please make sure you have a good lawyer because he will take legal action against you later.

Or you could write hate mails which have good points. Don’t swear, don’t be immature, look professional and be patient. You’ll hit the jackpot!

    Hope this helps.

My 2 cents: Interesting idea and it might help a site get a boost in traffic but once the battle is over, can you sustain the traffic? If pissing someone off is all the site has to offer, then readers will leave just as quickly as they arrived.
