How to Advertise Your Site

You made a new site. Not a lot of traffic. You want help with advertising and want loads of traffic. And here’s where I come in and save the day - yeah I’m superman.

Now where you advertise really depends on your targeted audience. Advertising anime site in a tech forum won’t work. So you get my point? Okay now lets talk about some places in general that will help you.

Places that will bring traffic

Digital Point forums: This is one of the most active forums I’ve ever seen and the members over there know what they are talking about. Now you can get a good amount of traffic from this site. Open an account and put your site’s link in the signature and start posting (make sure that they are good quality posts and don’t spam).

If you don’t want to spend your time posting there. Then go over here and you’ll find a lot of people willing to post for you for a couple of bucks. And if you hire someone make sure that he/she doesn’t spam.

PayPerPost: This is a new site where you can pay bloggers to blog about you. Not a lot of bloggers and advertisers at the moment, but its still good. Make an account there and start getting people to blog about you. Its pretty cheap. Bloggers there would do it for $10 probably.

PayPerPost also gives you the ability to indicate in the posts if it was a sponsored or not. I would recommend that you don’t reveal that it was a sponsored one. You want it to look real.

StumbleUpon: A great social bookmarking site. You can get a good amount of traffic from this site only if you do things smart. First of all, make sure that you don’t just bookmark all your sites. Like bookmark a few other random sites and also yours. That will give your bookmarks a lot more value and won’t be flagged as spam.

Try finding people who have been using StumbleUpon for a long time. Ask them to bookmark your site. Or if you can’t find people then do like a bookmarking exchange. You bookmark someone else’s site and they will bookmark yours.

Digg: Another great social bookmarking site. Just do the same as StumbleUpon. One more thing, Digg works best with blogs, news sites, videos and forums.

Other ways to advertise

Comment on popular blogs, upload an unique video on YouTube, use Google AdWords, and make a big chain mail. Oh and Facebook and MySpace. Don’t forget them. Find someone popular on Facebook and MySpace (with a lot of friends) and ask them to send a message to everyone about your site.

A small gift

Well its not really a gift or something. But if you guys want to use AdWords then use this link to signup and you’ll get a $50 credit. Make sure that you stop advertising after you spent $50 or else it will charge you.

So try these tips out and you’ll surely get a good amount of visitors. And one more thing, never spam! Yeah don’t spam. It might get you a bit of traffic at first but in the long run it doesn’t work.
