I don't honestly know why they felt the need to redesign.

And what the fuck is with the widescreen shit? The least they could do is re-size the videos to fit in the thing without fucking them up.

It does not look very good but these guys know what they are doing. It has a purpose. Clearing up header space makes more spaces for the "Videos being watched right now" and also "Featured Videos" sections.

A lot of people have to scroll down to watch a video. Now this has been reduced.

They would have had big board discussions about this and I am sure they would have given reasons to suggest these changes.

You may not notice them but they are there. Hidden away. For instance now because of less scrolling you will watch more videos in a certain time. This may seem like hardly any time but think about how many more videos will be watched by the millions of people accross the world. More ads will therefore be seen and therefore YouTube (Google) making more money.

I totally agree with you. It looks horrible. Why can't they take some inspiration from the web design of websites such as Facebook, where every little icon is designed to match the rest of the site? Where everything is organized?

The widescreen makes the narrower videos look lacking.

The new ads - they're just everywhere. When you search for certain things, sponsored videos appear on the right hand side. It's all a revenue-maximising thing now... But they may just end up losing out because people may start using it less.

What's with the bright blue? How primitive and boring. They could at least make the blue darker. They should make the site more visually appealing, not visually appalling...

I must agree, I don't like the changes that have been made. It looks very old school and misaligned. What the hell!

I couldn't agree more! the redesign is hideous. Same goes to when youtube videos are embedded and there's that ugly search bar at the top. It's as if they went back in time to the 1990s.
