Stop Hating on Cuil!
29 Jul
Cuil is a new search engine (by former Google employees) that launched the day before yesterday. Everyone was being optimistic about it. I was too. And I still am. The thing is everyone just started hating on Cuil after its launch. Now that’s not nice.
People are complaining that the search results are not (so) relevant or there aren’t a lot of results. Oh I forgot to mention that people were crying about Cuil having no results for their search. Cuil also got some additional hate when it went down for a bit. Well I guess they didn’t expect this huge traffic rushing towards them.
What’s so stupid is that people don’t realize that Google had a decade to perfect its search engine while Cuil is just a few days old. WTF? Like c`mon its not even a fair fight. Its like a small kid fighting a professional wrestler.
Right now, Cuil is looking cool. I think it might be the Google killer. If not, at least Google gets a new competitor. That should make it a bit harder for Google to try to own the web. Plus Cuil actually cares about our privacy unlike Mr. Evil Google. Cuil does not log IP addresses or send out tracking cookies. The features are nice too.
Now the question is, will it be a Google killer? I wish I could see the future (some how). So, right now I can’t tell. But, I think it could be the Google killer. People might just move away from Google because of their privacy issues. Well I do know that Cuil will work and improve their search engine, so I’m looking forward to that.
Over to you: What do you think of Cuil? Do you think it can beat Google?

I don’t think Cuil will ever take out Google. Too many people use “Mr. Evil Google” to just move on to a new web site. It’s crazy to think of how many search engines are out there. Google, Ask, MSN Search, Yahoo! Search, now Cuil, and I’m sure there are many many more out there that I have forgot to list.
When I searched on Cuil, it hardly came up with any of the results I was expecting. The features are really cool! And, although my searches didn’t find everything, I am not going to dismiss the search engine so quickly.
Cuil could be amazing. We just have to let it.
Well if Cuil stays how it is right now then it will never beat Google for sure. But, Brian you never know. Maybe it won’t or maybe it will. Cuil (or any other site) can’t take out Google overnight.
Plus Google isn’t just search. Its got other businesses too. So, it will be hard to take Google out. But, competition is always good. We don’t want Google to be the only grocery store in town.
So, lets see what Cuil can do.
well im not hatin cuz i like d idea n d layout but it doesnt work… when i search for Light Source University i dont even get it on cuil n on google is listed first… now c it for urself
1. cuil results: http://www.cuil.com/search?q=light+source+university
2. google results: http://www.google.com/search?q=light+source+university&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a
no comment!
Google had 10 years. Cuil had about 10 days. Equal fight?
Just give Cuil some time to work on the results. They’ve got a nice design, nice idea and cool features. The only thing lacking is good search results. I’m sure they’re working on that.
agree i love design n idea so shell c ^.^
I have never heard of this search engine before just right now, I checked out the site and did like 2 searches. As of right now, its sucks. The layout isnt great, I have to scan all over the page to know whats there. My eyes are all over the place, I didnt check any of the indepth features. Just a 30 second test run.
